When you think about it, being a filmmaker is kind of like being a god. Here us out: They have the power to create entirely new worlds, limited only by their imagination and the power of their rendering software. If nothing else, they can conjure events that would never occur in our world. Ghosts, wizards, and the idea of Adam Sandler repeatedly romancing Drew Barrymore all get brought to life on the big screen.
So why is that so often, when you watch a movie based on a true story, you go, “No way, they must have made that part up,” only to pull up the Wikipedia page and find out that not only did it happen, it was way more intense in real life? It turns out that our universe can bring about circumstances that even the most artistic visionary could never dream of.
