ICAEW Launches First-Ever ASEAN Sustainability Summit: A Strategic Call To Action For The Region’s ESG Future

The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) has officially announced its inaugural ASEAN Sustainability Summit 2025, taking place at the Securities Commission Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday, 4 November 2025, with hybrid access for global participation. This pioneering event is poised to become the definitive platform for ESG thought leadership and action in the region.

Designed for finance professionals, policymakers, regulators, business leaders, sustainability experts and civil society, the Summit aims to drive high-impact collaboration and accelerate the transition from strategy to execution. Anchored on one of the ICAEW’s strategic initiatives to lead conversations on issues that matter to the profession and business, the Summit will examine the most urgent sustainability challenges and opportunities in Southeast Asia’s rapidly evolving landscape.

The agenda reflects ICAEW’s steadfast approach to shaping real change. Topics will include:

  • Ethics and Sustainability: Building Trust and Accountability – How ethical frameworks are foundational to sustainable practices.
  • Accelerating Sustainability Reporting and Assurance for ASEAN – Navigating the rising tide of regulation, best practice, and international standards.
  • Green Financing: Mobilising Capital for a Sustainable Future – Innovative models like green sukuk, transition financing, and ESG‑driven instruments.
  • Climate Scenario Analysis Made Simple – Practical tools and real‑world examples to understand risks and build resilience.
  • From Number Cruncher to Value Creator: How Finance Professionals Are Shaping Purpose, People and Performance – Exploring how finance leaders can drive internal and external impact beyond mere compliance.

Attendees will also explore how finance professionals have evolved from compliance officers to strategic leaders who influence purpose, people, and performance across their organisations.

In a region facing intensifying regulatory pressure, investor scrutiny, and environmental risk, the ICAEW ASEAN Sustainability Summit is uniquely positioned to help professionals not only navigate change but lead it. The event will focus on moving beyond surface-level sustainability pledges by offering practical insights, case studies, and roadmaps that attendees can apply immediately.

What sets this Summit apart is its high-level participation, both on stage and in the audience. ICAEW has assembled a powerhouse line-up of speakers from ASEAN capital markets, global ESG institutions, and leading sustainability advocates. The hybrid format ensures accessibility for a wide audience—from Kuala Lumpur to London, from Jakarta to Singapore—while maintaining the in-person energy essential for networking and meaningful dialogue.

Elaine Hong, ICAEW Director of Southeast Asia, underscored the significance of this milestone, “Southeast Asia is on the frontline of climate, social, and economic disruption. We cannot afford to watch from the sidelines. The ICAEW ASEAN Sustainability Summit is where the region’s sustainability leaders come together—not just to talk—but to build the solutions we urgently need. We’re proud to host this in Malaysia and proud to position ICAEW as a driver of practical sustainability leadership in ASEAN.”

The Summit also reflects ICAEW’s expanding regional role as a convener of expertise and influence. With a strong commitment to ethics, transparency, and high standards, ICAEW is equipping the profession with the skills, mindset, and tools to embed ESG into the DNA of business and government.

Registration is now open. The full programme, speaker line-up, and CPD details can be found at the official event site: ICAEW ASEAN Sustainability Summit 2025. (https://bit.ly/ICAEWASEANSUST)
