The UNDP’s latest work on protectionism makes one point very clear. The world is not entering deglobalization. What we are experiencing is what they call disglobalization, a slowdown in momentum rather than a retreat. Their assessment is blunt: “More productive to talk about disglobalization. A slowdown in momentum, not a retreat in levels.” Despite rising tariffs, geopolitical friction, and record policy uncertainty, cross border integration is still moving. Countries are strengthening supply chains, building new corridors, and diversifying partners faster than they did before the shocks of the past few years.
