A literary work held as the foundation of Chinese poetry and Confucian education was recently recovered from a Chinese tomb. The discovery of China’s first-ever complete version of the “Book of Songs” was confirmed by archaeologists. The manuscript was written on bamboo slips and was recovered from the tomb of the Marquis of Haihun in Nanchang, capital of East China’s Jiangxi province. These bamboo slips date back around 2,000 years and were from the Qin (221-207 BC) and Han (202 BC-220 AD) period, according to China Daily. Researchers considered this discovery a breakthrough in the study of early Chinese literature and history.
