Many years ago, I made a personal decision to dedicate 10% of my life to charitable causes. I strongly believe that even the smallest action can make a big impact in someone else’s life.
I’ve been involved in charity work since my youth, starting with projects in my church. When it comes to larger-scale campaigns—especially those involving fundraising and awareness with NGOs and partners—I choose the organizations carefully. I want every campaign to be meaningful and to create a lasting impact, not just a one-off event that looks good in the moment but fades away after.
That’s why I always take the time to get to know the people behind an NGO and understand how they run their organization. That’s when I came across ALOF (A Leap of Faith).
ALOF is an incredible NGO made up of passionate, kind-hearted individuals who are dedicated to uplifting children’s homes across Malaysia. Their support goes far beyond donations — they help improve living conditions so that children can grow up in a safe and nurturing environment.
Anything involving children is always a big yes from me. I believe they are the future of our nation.
Another reason I like ALOF is their transparency and accountability. Every home they support is carefully vetted and proper financial accounts must be maintained before any assistance is provided. This ensures that resources go exactly where they’re needed and are used as intended.
To celebrate ALOF’s 4th anniversary, we recently organized a Fun Walk at Tasik Titiwangsa. Children’s homes, parents, and supporters all showed up for a 2.3km walk. The goal was to encourage a healthier lifestyle by simply getting everyone to move more.
One of the children’s homes, Sri Eden, designed the T-shirt. We purchased the shirts, and the profits went back to the home. Others contributed refreshments, food, and books for the children to take home. Everyone played a small part, and the whole event came together beautifully.
Over the years, I’ve been lucky to be part of a few ALOF projects. I’ve seen the children grow, and some even remembered me and called me “Uncle Alvin.” Moments like that really stay with me. They remind me that small things like showing up, giving support, and being a good example can make a big difference.

I hope that in some way, I can inspire them to live healthy, happy, and meaningful lives both in body and mind.
I love the people behind this mission. I love the children they serve. And I feel a deep sense of purpose being part of this journey. In fact, I’m already thinking maybe my next Guinness World Record campaign will be in support of children’s homes.
We’ll be organizing another Fun Walk next year to celebrate ALOF’s 5th anniversary. I’m also starting to plan my next world record and campaign for 2026.
