7 people attended the online hangout session I hosted last night. Out of 11 registered, 7 eventually made it to Google Meet. I felt a little bit uneasy at first when the number exceeded 10. It’s difficult to have a meaningful conversation via online, once the crowd gets big. But knowing the fact that the real attendance won’t be 100 percent, I remained calm and waited till d-day. True enough, 7 came and the session lasted exactly 90 minutes.
As usual, the ability to learn from other people’s stories is priceless. While some people have no problem sharing their life’s experience with others, there are some who prefer to talk more about their professional life instead. No matter what’s being shared, all of them are indeed inspiring. It seems that we are all living a very unique life after all. My job as a host, is to make sure everybody participates—and they all did pretty well.
On social media, people behind connections or followers usually seen merely as numbers; not human beings. This is not right. Like I said before, the sole reason I created this online hangout session is because I want those who come, get to connect with real people whom they get to see first. They get to hear the stories from them first before extending that connection request. By looking at this from the other angle, social media acquaintances will be far better and more meaningful. It will just be a matter of time this will eventually translate into a win-win situation for them. They win, I personally will win too. That’s the idea. You might ask, what sort of the winning prize I will gain out of this.
Memorability.
This is what I’m after. It’s intangible. It’s indirect, which end-game not many people keen to have. You see, helping people win will make the word Azleen Abdul Rahim itself memorable to this small group of people. Helping people win will make the word Azleen Abdul Rahim relatable to the word Marketing in their mind. Helping people win will make the word Azleen Abdul Rahim remain in their head when they think of Marketing. Why memorability matters you ask?
Well, memorability will be translated into something else more powerful if the message is repeated frequently enough—authority. And having a real authority in one niche area such as Marketing, will bring me closer to building sustainable ROIs.
