When I first visited Japan in April, I was captivated by the country’s vibrancy, diversity, and charm. For a New York City girl who’s traveled extensively, that’s no small feat. Japan quickly became one of my favorite destinations, leaving me eager to return.
This fall, I had the chance to explore the captivating cities of Osaka and Kyoto, and my stay at the Four Seasons Hotel Osaka turned the trip into an unforgettable experience.
A New Level of Luxury in Osaka
Osaka, often overshadowed by Tokyo, surprised me with its unique energy and charm. Known as tenka no daidokoro (Japan’s Kitchen), it’s a haven for food lovers and shopaholics alike. But the recently opened Four Seasons Hotel Osaka elevated the city to a whole new level for me.
Perched in the One Dojima building, the hotel’s sky lobby on the 28th floor greets guests with panoramic city views and interiors that merge modern design with Japanese tradition. My room, a sanctuary in the clouds, offered breathtaking views that made jet lag a distant memory.
Unmatched Experiences
The hotel itself is an urban retreat. With its wellness sanctuary on the 36th floor, complete with traditional ofuro (Japanese baths) and state-of-the-art facilities, I found myself recharged after a long day of exploring. One highlight was the GENSUI 玄水 floor, a modern take on the ryokan experience, where timeless elegance meets contemporary comfort.
Between these indulgences, I immersed myself in Osaka’s vibrant culture. From a walking tour of Osaka Castle to a relaxing boat ride along the Nakanoshima River, the city’s history unfolded before me. And as a lover of fashion, Osaka’s vintage shops proved to be a treasure trove. With a vintage Gucci jacket and a long-coveted Louis Vuitton bag in hand, I left the city with a suitcase and heart full of joy.
Culinary Delights
Osaka’s food scene is second to none. Whether savoring street food in Shinsekai or dining at Jiang-Nan Chun, a Chinese restaurant within the Four Seasons, every meal was a testament to the city’s culinary prowess.
For Black women looking for a travel experience that combines luxury, culture, and empowerment, the Four Seasons Hotel Osaka and the city it calls home offer something truly extraordinary.
