The Predator franchise is continuing to expand on screen, with Dan Trachtenberg once again bringing the alien hunters to cinemas in this week’s Predator: Badlands. But one person who has been surprisingly absent as the franchise has spread its wings is Arnold Schwarzenegger — star of the first Predator movie in 1987.
Schwarzenegger hasn’t appeared in a Predator film since the original. An animated version of his character, Major Dutch Schaefer, did show up in a scene belatedly added to Trachtenberg’s anthology film Predator: Killer of Killers earlier this year, but live-action Arnie has been conspicuous by his absence now for almost 40 years.
