A recent viral incident at Shenzhen North Railway Station on April 18, 2025, has sparked widespread discussion online. A female passenger blocked the doors of a high-speed train with her leg in an attempt to delay its departure, hoping to allow her companion—who arrived late—to board.
According to a police report issued by the Shenzhen Railway Public Security Bureau, the incident occurred around 1:00 PM at Platform 3, where Train D2404 was preparing to depart. The passenger, identified as Wu (female, 43 years old), ignored staff warnings and used her body to prevent the train doors from closing. Her actions disrupted train operations and were deemed an illegal act of obstructing the normal operation of a vehicle.
As a result, Wu has been placed under administrative detention by the railway public security authorities.
Addressing the issue, a police information report has been released via media outlet, CCTV News. The report stated,“In response to the recent online rumor of “a woman stretching her legs to prevent the high-speed train door from closing”, the railway public security authorities have investigated and found that at around 13:00 on April 18, 2025, when the door of No. 02404 train was closing at
Platform 3 of Shenzhen North Station, passenger Wu Moumou (female, 43 years old) did not listen to the staff’s dissuasion and used her body to prevent the door from closing. Her behavior constituted an illegal act, and the railway public security authorities have imposed administrative detention on Guan Moumou”.
The X (formerly Twitter) original post owner stated the irony of the woman’s action stating, “The ironic thing about this incident is, commuters can always change to another time slot without any extra charge if they miss their train”. The videos can be found on this link here.
This event echoes a similar case from January 2018 in Hefei, Anhui province. In that instance, a woman named Luo Haili, a primary school teacher, obstructed the doors of a high-speed train to wait for her husband, who had been delayed at the ticket barrier. Despite staff instructions, she persisted, causing a four-minute delay. The incident led to her suspension and potential legal consequences under China’s railway safety regulations.
