The ongoing war in Sudan is a genocide unfolding in plain sight, with the potential to destabilise global security, according to Sudan’s ambassador to London. Ambassador Babikir Elamin warned the Western countries are turning at best “a blind eye” to the crisis, which has seen accusations of genocide against the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) fighting against the Sudanese military.
The Ambassador told ITV News’ International Editor Emma Murphy that reports from Darfur told of the mass murder, rape, detentions, torture and some being forced to dig their own graves before being buried alive. He said he feared the violence would spread across other parts of the country. In the past days, the capital of North Darfur, Al Fashir, has fallen to the RSF, with horrific videos and testimony emerging on attacks on civilians.
