When it comes to science fiction, The Matrix and its three subsequent sequels are among the best the genre has to offer. Directed and written by Lana and Lilly Wachowski, the original The Matrix earned more than $467 million worldwide against its modest budget of $63 million, solidifying the movie as a sci-fi classic. More than a quarter of a century after The Matrix was released, co-director Lilly Wachowski, per Entertainment Weekly via the So True Podcast, said she’s tired of the message some viewers are taking from the movie.
