Luo Dengpin, a 43-year-old woman from Guizhou, China, has gained worldwide attention for her incredible ability to scale towering cliffs without any safety equipment. This ancient Miao tradition, passed down through generations, is rooted in the practice of cliff burials.

Originally, Miao people used cliff burials as a way to honor their deceased and protect their bodies from wildlife. Over time, this practice evolved into a skill that has been honed by generations of Miao people. Luo herself began learning to climb at the age of 15, motivated by a desire to prove herself and earn a living.

Despite the inherent dangers of her profession, Luo has become a symbol of strength and resilience. Her extraordinary skill has not only captivated tourists but has also inspired many people online.

The practice of cliff climbing, which has been passed down through generations, is a testament to the Miao people’s deep connection to their land and their ancestors. Moreover, Luo’s decision to return to her hometown after pursuing work elsewhere demonstrates her strong sense of community and her commitment to preserving her cultural heritage.
