Ferdinand Porsche Music
————————-
Dr Ferdinand Porsche once said “I couldn’t find the sports car of my dream, so I built it myself.” So goes the history of Porsche since 1948 and from thereafter the Porsche music is played in the world of automotive in its own rhythm and chords.
The conductor of this beautiful masterpiece started with Dr Ferdinand Porsche and his son Terry and their music has created immense impact with various songs that has deepened the interest mostly on the petrol heads when they orchestrated their music using track racing at the stage to perform their beautiful musics.
Porsche is known for the glorious racing history winning Le Mans Races endlessly with various technology transfer right from the race track on to the mass production cars.
Driving a Porsche is like driving a engineering factory. Carerra started with the awesome Carrera 2S and it fits like a glove to motor head who loves driving but if the Carrera 2S is so good, then why do you need the 4S or the four wheel drive version?
Lets find out more from our test drive. The car is a courtesy of one businessman only wanted to be known as “DSS” who loves fast cars, heli and all sort of fast machines but silently he loves playing Playstation on daily basis.
We are lucky to have taken the Porsche 991 Carrera 4S and wanted to listen to what sort of magic that the music conductor has prepared before us.
This machine uses the AWD system derived from 911 Turbo and works with Porsche’s Traction Management and braking systems to Torque Vector power wherever it is most beneficial, including almost 100% to the front, though we can’t think of too many times where that would be useful. The weight difference between Carrera 2S and 4S is just 29kg but it produces immense grip.
Taking the highway with long sweeping corners and normal truck road with low and mid end speed corners with various patches of scattered pebbles and mixed corners to Kuala Selangor has actually made use of the AWD where we could actually power out of corner with ease and we could see the AllWheel Drive Meter showing from 100% rear wheel drive torque to around 90-75% changes as the brilliant AWD system kicks off to get the best grips over different section of corners depending on the degree of slip happen to the tyres.
At speed, everything feels so refined and well engaged sorted out. We could take fast corner with less body roll and virtually flat, steering response is so crisp is spot on, just point it where you want and it responds instantly.
You have to disable every electronic nanny you possibly can to get any rear end play; otherwise all you get is tenacious grip. Brakes are tremendously good being the typical Porsche character of powerful brakes.
The interior is very German with functionality at the arm’s length with well structured buttons and the Porsche signature instrument panel with the biggest rounded Revs Limiter at the centre. At a glance you could almost see all the indications. The design of the interior is nothing ultra-new as we believe Porsche’s musicians like to keep them having the same Porsche DNA.
We are not complaining but we could see the difference of the flamboyant designs of latest Ferrari or Lambo and this Porsche. However this should not distract us from enjoying German technology house so to speak while driving this beautiful piece.
She flows on the road just like the sound of musics played by the musicians; translating the listeners into the new world of sheer driving pleasure. The car behaves and performs so well especially during twisty roads and long sweeping corners. The perfect driving position especially the position of the footrest as well as the air conditioned bucket seat locked me right from the beginning with minimum movements.
The key elements which have given me something I like about this car are the superb lighting at night, driving position, spot on handling especially when you need to tuck in during mid-speed corner or fast-speed corner – it’s just amazing.
The car follows my instructions just like the musicians follow every single chord by the conductor; the torque and the tons of grip getting of of the low speed corner.
The right throttle is sharp with the assistance of 400 German horses churning with the ever reliable Le Mans history engineering and being the Porsche fans and ex-onwer of Carrera, I always love the sound of Porsche boxer engine.
This is how I describe my relationship of this Porsche. It’s the love at first drive.
Porsche always has a special place my heart and being a petrolhead, you will enjoy the machine under certain fast conditions as you will beginning to enjoy and appreciate the work of art of those people at Zuffenhausen factory.
It’s easy to drive on the normal daily condition but if you ever need to be naughty with her, then she will change from a soothing orchestra-player music into a sexy- sulty salsa and tango.
