One post from this user on 300th called Straight Out Of The Internet blew up big time yesterday. I was about to sleep when I suddenly saw a huge spike on my mobile device. Yeah, I’m regularly checking out the performance of 300th daily. especially right before I sleep. The entire thing blew up because that user shared a story of a person being denied boarding by AirAsia. The entire story was pretty dramatic actually. She was about to fly to Kuala Lumpur from Shanghai but couldn’t. Somehow she was singled out by the budget airline for some weird reasons. It garnered 640 views. On Google Analytics, I noticed a total of 5,000 visitors dropped by in just a few hours to check out the story.
These visitors, when they came to read one article they came across, either from the search engines, social media or both, usually don’t just read that one story. They will check out other stories too—and read them. This sort of behaviour is normal for platforms like 300th. Unlike having an own website where it’s not that easy to attract Internet traffic to come by, user-generated content platforms are having it slightly easier. That’s why I always encourage people and companies to just upload their stories, insights and news on 300th. They will get new Internet traffic they’ve been looking for, to visit their official websites or blogs.
Late afternoon today, Straight Out Of The Internet, the same user who posted that AirAsia piece, uploaded another airline’s mishap. This time it was related to Pakistan International Airlines. It’s their tone-deaf ads—and the netizens aren’t happy with it. They asked whether that advertisement was designed by Al-Qaeda. Whoa. Things are getting interesting now in 300th. How I wish there could be more users from Malaysia and Southeast Asia to share their cool stories in writing—making the content platform even more interesting and happening place to spend time at.
