In the past three years, Huawei Technologies Co. has gone to great lengths to overcome US sanctions by replacing over 13,000 components in their range of products and redesigning over 4,000 circuit board layouts. Founder Ren Zhengfei shared insight into these efforts in order to show how far the company has come.
Ren mentioned in his speech at Nanjing University on Friday that the production of circuit boards had become steady as the Chinese telecommunications giant sourced and came up with alternate parts from domestic sources.
Huawei has announced the launch of its own version of a resources planning system, MetaERP, set to take place next month. The company also stated that it will be using its own operating system, data system, compiler and language.
In February, Ren showed his appreciation to the general public and academics by delivering a speech, thanking them for their contribution in assisting the business in solving its technological issues. Ren Zhengfei has always been a huge advocate of Western technology since he was young, and this admiration continued after he founded Huawei. His admiration ended when the U.S. created the problem which eventually led to Huawei being sanctioned.
