More than a quarter of this year’s VC funding has gone straight into climate-driven ventures. After an overall decline in start-ups’ funding, it seems like the story is completely the opposite in this sector. PwC report titled Climate Tech Investment Index was released in early November 2022 and was established together with Pitchbook, a private-capital market database company.

Climate tech start-ups are referred to the companies that focus on solving greenhouse-gas emissions, and other issues of global warming through technologies.

The report said, 8 out of 10 investors surveyed highlighted their plan to increase their investment in environmental, social and governance (ESG) solutions over the next two years. In 2022, these climate-tech start-ups have secured a whopping 52 per cent of investment, compared to just 39 per cent in 2021. This showcased that investors’ appetite now is towards funding the right technology that can do the most to cut emissions.
