Proton Shipped 1,000 Units Despite Re-Entering South Africa Only 2 Months Ago

News Asia 360

Malaysia’s car giant Proton had shipped 1,000 of their vehicles to South Africa after just two months of entering the market. This is a clear indicator that the company has gained a firm foothold in the country. Proton’s return journey to South Africa sparked after CMH Group was appointed as its distributor last April 2022. This is a milestone for the carmaker after a 10-year absence from the market.

Proton X50 and Proton X70 were the first batches of the shipment that took place last May 2022. The official launch of the brand happened on September 14 this year.

Proton’s overall exports as of November 30, 2022 at 5,028 units. The carmaker is putting an effort into growing the number further to firm up its global footprint. Pakistan continues to become Proton’s largest market with 2,610 units being sold there in 2022, the second largest market is South Africa as far as the volume is concerned although the country is relatively new and Brunei remains at the third spot.
