In the leadup to its 18th anniversary this month, OPPO has released a series of short documentaries profiling its employees through the OPPO’s Inspiring People series. The series comprises 4 bite-sized videos of OPPO employees from across the globe, with stories that are steeped in diversity and how the different individuals embody OPPO’s “Inspiration Ahead” aspirations.

The first of the four documentaries tell the story of Saritha Bandaru, Principle Engineer of Camera Innovation in OPPO India R&D who sought to find a solution to preserve the heritage and culture of the Bindi which is often registered by smartphone algorithms as an unwanted spot and is removed from the image. With Saritha’s determination to preserve the unique beauty and strength of Indian women, the OPPO India R&D team managed to effectively discover a breakthrough in the field of imaging effects, building it into OPPO smartphone algorithms in just one month.

Next, Li Hong, Senior Sound Designer at OPPO, tells the story of his desire to help digital users achieve calm in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. With that aim, Li Hong has led his team to successfully develop “Sounds of Cities” for OPPO’s O Relax, an ambient sound app. “Sounds of Cities” invites listeners to embark on sound journeys with ambient noises from cities including Shenzhen and Tokyo. O Relax demonstrates OPPO’s commitment to improving user experience, even down to details such as providing them with more options to remain calm and reduce anxiety in a fast-paced world.

Cheng Sheng, of OPPO Research Institute, shares how passion drives one forward in the workplace and OPPO continues to inspire individuals such as the Senior Product Manager for Advanced Technology. Cheng Sheng’s interest lies in developing cutting-edge technology alongside her team and found her niche at OPPO Research Institute. She also served as the product manager for the Reno and Find series at OPPO, two of the brand’s celebrated product lines and her dedication to engineering products that are innovative, reflects on OPPO’s continuous pursuit of driving “Inspiration Ahead”.

Finally, Dan Amariei from OPPO Romania showcases true grit and perseverance where during the pandemic, the newcomer to OPPO led his team remotely and went above and beyond to care for the wellbeing of his teammates. At a time when OPPO was new to the Romanian market, Dan and his team continued to push forward and were instrumental in OPPO jumping to third place in the local smartphone market, with an annual growth rate of 227 – all in just under two years.

All these stories told by OPPO’s dedicated team members across the globe paint a picture of OPPO’s celebrated diverse culture which extends across numerous continents. Each OPPO employee embodies the spirit of OPPO’s motto of “Inspiration Ahead” with the individuals demonstrating how they are able to adapt the slogan as their work DNA, driving the brand forward into its 18th year of bringing technology to mankind.
