A teacher was reportedly unable to celebrate her special day with her partner after allegedly being denied wedding leave because she was required to attend a Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meeting.
The story was shared by a social media user, joseibaraazmi, on the X app (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, describing how his mother attended a wedding ceremony in Sabak Bernam without the presence of the bride.
“Suddenly, three weeks before the event, the principal informed her that the leave was not approved due to a PTA meeting.
“Only three weeks before the event were they told it wasn’t allowed, even though the invitation cards had already been distributed,” he explained further.
Sinar Harian also sought a response from the Negeri Sembilan State Education Director, Khalidah Omar, regarding the allegation.
Khalidah stated that the Negeri Sembilan State Education Department (JPNS) had not received any reports regarding the matter.
According to joseibaraazmi, the bride teaches at a school in Seremban and could not attend her own wedding ceremony in Sabak Bernam.
“The principal did not approve the leave because of the PTA meeting. So, she couldn’t attend her own wedding ceremony — it’s heartbreaking.
“I was shocked to hear this. The bride only arrived in Sabak Bernam around 6 PM due to traffic congestion on the public holiday,” he said in his post on X.
The account owner also shared that, according to his mother-in-law, the teacher had applied for leave more than three months in advance but was only informed that it was not approved three weeks before the ceremony.
“JPNS has not been able to verify the authenticity of this news. We are currently gathering more information regarding the issue.
“As of this morning, we have not received any reports or complaints from any parties about this,” she said. — Sinar Harian
