Starting in 2017, Netflix struck gold with their original crime drama series Ozark. Led by powerhouse performers Jason Bateman and Laura Linney, the series follows a Chicago financial planner, Marty, as he gets wrapped in a money-laundering scheme for a Mexican cartel, and soon unravels his life, his family, and his own morals. The series, which went on to win four Primetime Emmys, reached an end in 2022 with its fourth and final season.
But, in case Ozark fans are looking for a new show to tap into, the Thai Netflix crime series The Believers, which is about to premiere its second season on December 4, 2025, and has earned an 89% score on Rotten Tomatoes, could finally fill the void they’ve been missing. It’s a different setting, tone and overall premise, but the escalating crimes and warped sense of morality definitely hit the Ozark sweet spot.
