Navigating The Marketing Rollercoaster Makes Life So Colourful

People think that marketing has a finish line—they’re wrong. Sorry to give them this bad news but it’s true. There’s no finish line here. What I can tell them is that there are loads of testing in marketing. Almost every single thing requires some sort of testing until the expected results surfaced. Now, this part is a marathon. This is also the part where it’s pretty much an ongoing thing. There are many challenges in running a marketing department.

Usually with time, I managed to overcome almost all of them except this one thing—micro-management. It’s pretty hard to move when the CEO of the company is breathing near my neck. The level of micro-management he had on me was absolutely ridiculous. He actually ran the entire marketing department, not me. I just stood there the entire 6 months as if I’m just too stupid to manage things. Right after that, we mutually agreed to part ways and I’m truly glad that happened.

As I see it, people and businesses no longer want to experience the process of success. They want to experience success right away and are always looking for tools and ways to achieve that. I notice this is happening lately. This phenomenon explains why nowadays people and businesses hardly want to engage advisory firms such as mine to transform their marketing strategy. The process is tedious and complex.

There’s a lot of hard work involved, which usually will take no less than 6 months to see the outcome. That’s why they want something simpler, something easy, like, after just a few simple clicks of a button, success will appear. Sounds a little weird doesn’t it? I’m glad that I have those digital assets created to sell the instant success mechanism they are after. I successfully created an online marketing magazine back in 2017 and sold it in 2021. The incoming traffic was so high, that more and more people and businesses were willing to pay us to publish their marketing materials, interviews and features. They took the offer despite the price being high.
