My Dream Is To Own Something Like YouTube

My dream is simple. I want to own a user-generated platform that hosts a lot of stories, written by people across Asia. Something like YouTube, but for writers. It is made with love in Asia. It is so popular that the platform receives more than 50,000 stories every single day, being self-uploaded by more than 200,000 writers. The readers love to scroll again and again to read more stories. And the writers are producing more and more cool stories on the opposite end. While the readers can enjoy good insightful stories, the writers are motivated to write more and more because they are making good money from their content.

Just FYI, I’m working on that dream. It has been 2 years now, developing and testing this platform day and night, ensuring that it will work wonders very soon. With a team of 5 people, we are at 20 per cent there. Today, I feel good about this platform. Everything is now in their respective places—only a few more minor things to tweak. The platform’s engine is doing okay. The user growth has stabilised. The search and referral traffic are also stabilising. Daily new stories are being uploaded consistently too, with almost 6 to 8 new stories per day. Social media followers and engagement growth are good too.

There is nothing for me to prove actually. Being a Libra, I just want to experiment with things and see if I can get the outcome I want, from it. In this case, I want to see if I can make that ridiculous dream of mine a reality or not, despite being just an average guy. My parents were both teachers, and we’ve lived our lives moderately. I want to also find out how it feels to experience a wild success. And, I want some selected individuals to experience it with me too. I’ve already told them that if they really want to achieve success, they have to work for it and stay disciplined till the day comes.

Now, there are about 80 per cent more to go when it comes to the journey. And I want to complete it by the end of 2025. Let’s see if I can make it to the end—or not.

According to Global Media Insight, YouTube has more than 2.7 billion monthly active users as of November 2024. Out of the 5.17 billion social media users worldwide, or 63.7 per cent of the global population, 52 per cent access YouTube. Frankly, I would be grateful if the size of this platform is just 0.1 per cent of YouTube. That’s about 2.7 million monthly active users.

It is more than enough.
