Iam a firm believer that there is never a wrong time for gravy — especially one that has the earthy umami notes of mushrooms, hints of fresh herbs, and the perfect touch of acidity. Mushroom gravy instantly elevates any meal. Making gravy as a teenager with my mom as I was learning how to cook is one of my most cherished holiday memories. I remember the smell of a rich, savory sauce filling the house, and as an adult I’ve had the privilege of passing that tradition along to my little sister Val. She now makes the mushroom gravy every year for the holidays, and it’s become her signature contribution.
