Malaysia Airlines soars towards a more inclusive future with the graduation of its first four Orang Asli (indigenous) cabin crew members.
Amyisha Nurshahira Rosman (Suku Jakun), Sarah Elissa Tang Aman (Suku Temuan), Veena Angelina Jincis (Suku Semai), and Alzariza Alwi (Suku Semai) are now officially part of the airline’s cabin crew family.
These inspiring individuals successfully completed a demanding three-month training program at the Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) Academy.
They were among 56 other graduates of the program. Their dedication and hard work culminated in a graduation ceremony graced by the presence of Datuk Hajah Sapiah Mohd Nor, director-general of the Department of Orang Asli Development (JAKOA).
Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, group managing director of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) told SAYS, “This milestone reflects our ongoing commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion within our workforce, ensuring equal opportunities for all, regardless of their background”.
Building Bridges
The successful recruitment drive was a collaborative effort between MAB and JAKOA.
Outreach programs held in December 2023 across Pahang, Perak, and Johor played a key role in attracting talented individuals from the Orang Asli community.
This initiative continues in August with a special career fair dedicated to Orang Asli, further strengthening the pipeline for future cabin crew and cadet pilots.
While celebrating its Orang Asli recruits, Malaysia Airlines remains committed to international cabin crew recruitment.
By actively seeking talent from key markets like India, Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia, the airline strives to enhance its global reach and personalize service for a diverse clientele.
