Louis Vuitton Learns a Lesson in Customer Service

News Asia 360

A wealthy Chinese woman has become the talk of the town after exacting a unique form of revenge on a luxury brand store that she felt had snubbed her.

The incident, which has been widely shared and discussed on social media, has sparked a debate about the behavior of retail staff and the expectations of high-end customers.

The woman, who goes by the online handle “xiaomayouren,” visited a Louis Vuitton outlet in Chongqing, China, earlier this year. She was carrying a Hermes handbag and was hoping to purchase some new clothing items. However, she claims that the store staff treated her with disdain and indifference.

They ignored her requests, rolled their eyes, and seemed impatient with her inquiries.

Feeling insulted and frustrated, the woman vowed to get even. Two months later, she returned to the store with a bag containing 600,000 yuan (approximately US$84,000) in cash. She was accompanied by a friend and a personal assistant.

After trying on some clothes, the woman announced that she would be purchasing them and presented the sales staff with the large sum of money.

The staff spent several hours counting the cash. To their surprise, the woman then informed them that she had changed her mind and would not be buying anything after all. She simply took her money back and left.

The woman’s story quickly went viral on social media, where it was met with widespread approval and support. Many netizens praised her for teaching the arrogant store staff a lesson. However, the incident also raised questions about the expectations of luxury brand customers and the behavior of retail staff.

Louis Vuitton has not yet issued a public statement in response to the incident.
