The fantasy film ‘Suzume’ follows the adventures of a 17-year-old girl and a mysterious young man who team up to prevent natural disasters from unfolding across Japan.
During its debut weekend, reports show that it topped China’s box office with over 90 million yuan ($13 million). Over in South Korea, Suzume captured the hearts of over 3 million South Korean viewers in less than 3 weeks after release.
Suzume is the latest work by Japanese animation director Makoto Shinkai, who is also responsible for the heart-wrenching 2016 hit anime film “Your name”.
