In response to an attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria that killed seven, Iran retaliated by launching more than 120 ballistic missiles, 170 drones, and more than 30 cruise missiles.
Iran called the attack Operation True Promise.
Dozens of missiles and drones were also launched at Israel from Iraq, Syria and Yemen, according to US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Sunday.
According to The Intercept,
“The United States shot down more drones and missiles than Israel did on Saturday night during Iran’s attack.
More than half of Iran’s weapons were destroyed by U.S. aircraft and missiles before they ever reached Israel. In fact, by commanding a multinational air defense operation and scrambling American fighter jets, this was a U.S. military triumph.“
Iran warned Israel against any response. The chief of staff of the Iranian armed forces, Major General Mohammad Bagheri, told state TV that if Israel retaliates, Iran’s response would be “much larger” than the overnight bombardment.
