The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) reported that yellow dust, which came from mainland China, was seen in wide areas of northern Kyushu, causing visibility to drop to less than 10 kilometres in some locations.
The seasonal sand is expected to reach broad areas in the Tokai and Kanto-Koshin regions from central to eastern Japan on April 12. With the dust predicted to reach northern Japan, the agency advises people to avoid potential traffic disruptions.
On the morning of April 11, the agency reported that yellow dust was observed in northern and northeastern China. The dust usually originates from the Gobi Desert and other dry areas in East Asia and is commonly observed in Japan during the spring season, often obscuring the view and staining surfaces such as cars and laundry.
