Singer Ariana Grande sparked outrage after revealing her past fascination with serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer. The controversy stems from an interview on Penn Badgley’s podcast “Podcrushed,” where Grande recounted a Q&A session early in her career.
When a young fan asked her about her dream dinner guest, Grande jokingly said “Jeffrey Dahmer’s pretty fascinating.”
This remark deeply upset the family of Tony Hughes, one of Dahmer’s victims. Shirley Hughes, Tony’s mother, expressed her disgust at Grande’s flippant attitude and lack of empathy for the victims’ families to TMZ. “It’s not something you should say to young people,” she said, criticizing Grande for potentially influencing her fans.
Tony’s sister, Barbara, joined the call for a public apology from Grande, urging her to acknowledge the inappropriateness of her comments.
Grande’s remarks also drew criticism on social media, with users questioning her insensitivity and highlighting the ongoing pain of the victims’ families. Dahmer, a notorious serial killer known as the Milwaukee Cannibal, murdered 17 men between 1978 and 1991.
