As Malaysia accelerates its digital transformation under initiatives like Jalinan Digital Negara (JENDELA) and the Digital Roadmap 2025, businesses are under growing pressure to enhance their online presence and digital strategies. Recognising this, Exabytes elevated the Malaysia Website Awards (MWA) into the inaugural Malaysia Website Awards Conference & Ceremony 2025, on 25 April 2025. More than just an awards event, MWA Conference & Ceremony 2025 brought together Malaysia’s leading digital talents, businesses, and industry experts for a first-of-its-kind platform designed to equip businesses with the latest insights in web design, UX/UI, digital storytelling, and sustainable online practices.

Since its inception in 2015, the MWA has been a year-long initiative celebrating excellence in web design, user experience, and digital innovation, with over 5,500 website submissions and more than 300 winners recognised over the years. The 2025 edition, however, brought something unprecedented—a dynamic conference which featured industry leaders sharing strategies on UX/UI, data storytelling, and design-driven business growth. This transformation marked a significant moment for Malaysian web designers and businesses who seek to enhance their digital presence and stay competitive in an ever-evolving landscape.

This year’s MWA Conference & Ceremony featured the Digital Design Thinking Conference, a dedicated platform where industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators explored cutting-edge trends such as AI-driven design and sustainable digital practices. Attendees also participated in an insightful keynote session on how AI transforms design workflows and accelerates business growth, delivered by Sharon Ong, Vice President of Design and Communications at Pixlr Group, along with a panel discussion which featured  (1) Derek Tan, Managing Director of South East Asia of admiral digital, (2) Aaron Foo, Head of Product of Koppiku, and (3) Chee Seng Leong Software Designer at Alphaus Cloud on collaboration in the digital space.

Additionally, a hands-on workshop, titled Storify Your Marketing – Master data storytelling to captivate, connect, and convert in the age of AI, provided businesses with actionable strategies to create emotional connections that drive genuine buy-in. The workshop was conducted by Maverick Foo, an Award-Winning Marketing Strategy Consultant and Trainer, and two-times TEDx Keynote Speaker. The conference also featured a sharing session by Alvin Chai, User Experience Consultant of Netizen eXperience, where attendees learnt how human design can be innovated through AI collaboration.

The concluding highlight of the event was the highly anticipated MWA 2025 Awards Ceremony, where Malaysia’s most outstanding websites in Personal, Commercial, and Ecommerce categories were recognised for their creativity, functionality, and impact (Winner list appended in Appendix A). In addition to that, was the prestigious Site of the Year Awards, (1) Personal Category won by Mohammed Asif for his site aeroer.live; (2) Commercial Category won by Interadsion Studio for their site interadsion.com and (3) Ecommerce Category won by Web Ninja Studio for their site youmee.com.my. The award which honoured the best of the best, celebrating websites that set new benchmarks for digital excellence. Winners received Exabytes credits, certificates, and trophies, underscoring their achievements in shaping Malaysia’s digital landscape.

According to Chan Kee Siak, Founder and CEO of Exabytes, this evolution of MWA is about more than just recognition—it was about empowering Malaysian businesses with the tools, knowledge, and connections needed to thrive in the digital economy. “The Malaysia Website Awards has always been a platform to celebrate digital excellence, but with this new format, we are taking it a step further. By introducing a conference, we are creating an opportunity for businesses to learn from the best, exchange ideas, and position themselves at the forefront of digital transformation.”
