It takes 10 and a half hours to travel from Vientiane, Laos to Kunming, China with customs clearance. You can even arrive at your destination the same day if you leave in the morning! Since its launch over a year ago, the China-Laos Railway has become an invaluable “golden channel” in connecting both countries.

On April 6th, 2023, the railway ran 11,979 pairs of passenger trains carrying 13.78 million passengers and 16,396 cargo trains that transported 18.21 million tonnes of freight. The introduction of the China-Laos Railway international passenger train has been incredibly helpful in providing easier rail transportation and tourism opportunities to citizens of both countries.

Strengthening tourism, business, and economic ties between the two countries is of utmost importance to propel their development. It’s also conducive to trade exchange between them.
