One time, I actually dropped out of my master’s degree. At that time, I deferred for the second semester, but the faculty realised that there were many deferred students at that time. What they did was they dropped everybody, including me. So I was like, How is that fair? Because I only defer for two semesters, and my friend, whom I know personally, has deferred seven or eight semesters for his master’s degree.
We just want to defer, not drop it completely. So what I did is that I contacted my father. He was working in the same university. I know this sounds a little unfair to other people for using an insider, but again, who wouldn’t? My father then reached out to the Vice Chancellor herself. So there we were, sitting in front of the Vice Chancellor and she surprisingly argued, why am I being put in this unfair situation to begin with? So what she said—okay, we’ll ask the faculty to reinstate you back in. The caveat was, I needed to do my thesis.
Guess what, I did that in exactly one month. That good news came with a challenge in itself. I cried for weeks while completing that thesis, yet I managed to clear it out on time. Otherwise, I might even finish my masters. This incident made me commit 100% to my study. This incident happened for two reasons I think. One, it’s fate. Two, in a way of God giving me a hard love. It was really a tough, heartbreaking and difficult moment for me to go through. I was in a typing-while-crying mode for a few weeks.
