In a landmark event aimed at accelerating the digitalisation of Malaysian businesses, Exabytes, Southeast Asia’s AI, Business App, Cloud, Digital and Ecommerce solutions provider, with the support of MYNIC Berhad (MYNIC), Malaysia’s official .MY domain registry, successfully concluded its highly anticipated contest that saw one lucky winner drive away in a brand-new Tesla Model 3.

The event, held at the Tesla Experience Centre Cyberjaya, brought together industry leaders, business owners, digital entrepreneurs, and key representatives from MYNIC and Exabytes. The grand finale was graced by the presence of Chan Kee Siak, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Exabytes, who delivered a welcoming remark to commemorate the efforts of the participants alongside officiating the grand finale. En. Hafiz Shahrel Hanafiah, SVP Operations of MYNIC, was also present at the event itself.

The highlight of the event was the much-awaited Tesla Model 3 grand prize announcement, which saw Zaidi Parmoto, Founder of Myoutdoor.com Sdn. Bhd, walk away with the sleek, cutting-edge electric vehicle. Expressing excitement over the win, Zaidi shared, “As a business owner, this initiative has reinforced how crucial it is to have a strong online presence. Thanks to Exabytes and MYNIC, I’ve taken the step towards digitalisation, and I encourage other Malaysian businesses to do the same.”

The campaign, which ran from 1st April to 31st December 2024, was designed to help businesses establish a stronger digital footprint, acknowledging the fact that a robust online presence is essential for long-term success. It was especially tailored to support Malaysian SMEs in embracing digital tools and building credible, competitive online identities. Over 11,258 businesses participated in the campaign, reflecting strong demand for digital readiness among local enterprises. Participants were eligible for the grand prize by registering a MYNIC domain extension with Exabytes for a five-year subscription. Additional entries were earned through web hosting, digital solution purchases, renewals, and service upgrades.

As part of its mission to GROW Digital, Exabytes has been actively helping Malaysian businesses establish a strong online presence through domain registration, web hosting, and digital solutions. In 2024 alone, Exabytes recorded a 44.91% growth in new SME domain registrations, a testament to the increasing awareness among businesses about the importance of owning a local digital identity. Its recent campaign encouraged more SMEs to secure .MY and .COM.MY domains—key to building online credibility. Recognised as MYNIC’s Most Improved Domestic Registrar with an 88.57% growth in 2024, Exabytes’ success reflects the rising importance of local domains in driving digital success.

According to Chan Kee Siak, Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Exabytes, “Digitalisation is the backbone of modern business. We launched this initiative to help more Malaysian SMEs make the leap into the digital world, ensuring they remain competitive and relevant in today’s economy. Seeing the overwhelming response reaffirms the growing recognition of digitalisation as a key driver of business success.”

Beyond championing digitalisation, the contest also highlighted the importance of sustainable innovation. Tesla, a globally renowned leader in sustainable automotive technology, was chosen as the grand prize to reinforce the parallel between digital transformation and the electrification of mobility—two driving forces of the future.

The Tesla Model 3, known for its cutting-edge technology, aerodynamic design, and autonomous driving capabilities, was a fitting reward for a contest centered around innovation and progress. The car, which boasts a range of 346km per charge, serves as a symbol of the transformation businesses must embrace in the digital era.

Looking ahead, Exabytes and MYNIC are doubling down on this momentum through the newly launched “Drive Dreams with Domains” campaign, running from February to December 2025. The next phase will go beyond establishing a web presence—focusing on deeper digital enablement through AI integration, cybersecurity awareness, and smart digital marketing tools. With the evolving needs of consumers and markets, the next wave of digitalisation will be about thriving online—scaling growth through intelligent automation, increased visibility, and building trust with local domain credibility.
