Ozil’s professional football career began at Schalke, his hometown club. After moving to Werder Bremen, he made a significant impact on the team by helping them win the DFB Pokal Cup and reach the final of the 2009 UEFA Cup. Following this, Ozil joined Real Madrid and won two Copa del Reys, along with the 2012 La Liga title.
His popularity decreased after a few years, so in 2013 he changed clubs and joined Arsenal. He spent the next eight years there.
