Dua Lipa Cancelled Jakarta Concert Over Safety Concerns

News Asia 360

Pop sensation Dua Lipa has abruptly cancelled her Jakarta concert, originally scheduled last Saturday, due to safety concerns with the stage setup at Indonesia Arena, reported AFP. The “Levitating” singer, who recently headlined Glastonbury, expressed her deep disappointment to fans in a social media post late Friday night. Despite being in Jakarta and eager to perform for her Indonesian fans, Lipa explained that the show could not proceed due to unforeseen safety issues.

“I’m heartbroken to share that I won’t be able to perform in Jakarta this Saturday,” Lipa wrote recently. “I am here in your amazing country and ready to perform, but I am gutted to share that it has been determined that it is not safe for the performance to carry on due to safety issues with the staging.”

This cancellation means Lipa’s Asian tour will bypass Indonesia, a country with a massive fanbase of approximately 280 million people. Her tour will now move on to the Philippines, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia and Thailand. Lipa reassured her Indonesian fans of her love and eagerness to return as soon as possible, stating: “I love you all and truly can’t wait to be back together in the same room with you singing and dancing our hearts out as soon as possible.”
