College Student Protests Erupts In The US

The ongoing Gaza genocide has increased tensions across the world. Especially for countries who are allies with the apartheid state of Israel.

What is going on with the student protests

Peaceful protests are erupting in colleges and universities across America. A response to the ongoing Gaza genocide. It is now over 200 days since the genocide escalated on October 7th.

It started at Columbia University. Then the protests spread to include colleges and polytechnics.

The United States of Israel

On one campus, two protests were held. One pro-Palestine and another pro-Israel. The university issued a warning to the pro-Palestine protest to disperse or face consequences.

The pro-Israel protest was left alone.

After a few hours, the university suspended the students involved in the protests and called the police on them for trespassing.

Nothing happened to the pro-Israel protest.

Politicians have come out, accusing the pro-Palestine protests of becoming violent and that they “have lost the right” to freedom of speech.

The majority of American citizens have turned against Israel and are actively criticizing their government for the continued financial and military support of an ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Despite immense public pressure, politicians from the democratic party and the republican party continue to stand with Israel. It is not surprising, since the majority of American politicians are funded by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).

AIPAC is an Israeli lobby group which funds politicians of their choice to further Israel’s agenda. It seems that the fearmongering of foreign intervention by American politicians is exclusive only to countries that are not Israel.

The irony of this is not lost on American citizens.

Protests at US universities

Harvard, Yale, NYU, George Washington, Michigan, Indiana, Emory, Berkeley, USC, UT-Austin have erupted into major protests.

Elsewhere, like Humboldt Polytechnic, minor protests are taking place but students still manage to create a big impact. In the case of Humboldt, state police attempted to break into the building where students had set up their protests.

The students barricaded entry points. A TikTok video went viral, showing one entry point where students were face-to-face with state police. One student hammered a policeman with a waterjug, attempting to discourage him from pushing through.

Moments later, the state police left.

Police brutality is well and alive on university campuses

A report from Breaking Points shows videos that have went viral on social media. These videos show the brutality by state police on peaceful protestors.

Protestors were thrown to the ground, cuffed, and some were tased as they were arrested.

Professors and even heads of departments were included in the carnage.
