I agree with this statement. Businesses can create brands but they certainly aren’t the ones that create branding. When it comes to branding, it comes from the consumers. What is branding? While there are many sorts of definitions when it comes to branding, the one I am embracing today is this version which I believe is the best among all.
Branding is all about making people remember our brand first whenever they think of purchasing or considering purchasing products or services we have.
Branding is about perspective. It is the perspective of the consumers about a particular brand. Everything from relatability to memorability, stickiness, loyalty, commitment and relevancy doesn’t belong to businesses but to consumers. Yes, businesses can come up with the brand name, slogan, value and graphic elements but it is the consumers who will have the say in whether those elements are right, spot on or not so on point. That being said, if you plan to build a brand out of your business, remember this. The consumers will decide after that whether the brand that you’re building has the right branding people want to be associated with or otherwise.
