Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an intruder at his Mumbai residence in the early hours of January 16, 2025. The assailant stabbed Khan six times, with two deep wounds near his spine. He was promptly taken to Lilavati Hospital, where surgeons removed a 2.5-inch knife lodged in his spinal cord and addressed spinal fluid leakage. Dr. Nitin Dange, who treated Khan, confirmed that the actor is now stable and out of danger.
During the incident, Khan’s wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and their children were present but remained unharmed. The intruder reportedly entered their son Jeh’s room, demanding ₹1 crore, before confronting Khan. The attacker fled the scene and is currently being pursued by the police.
The incident has raised concerns about security in Mumbai, especially in areas housing prominent figures from the film industry. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis described the attack as serious but emphasized that it would be incorrect to label Mumbai as unsafe. He assured that the police are actively investigating the matter and that measures will be implemented to enhance the city’s safety.
Family members, including Khan’s mother, Sharmila Tagore, and his children, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan, have visited him at the hospital. Friends and colleagues from the film industry, such as Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, have also shown their support by visiting the hospital.
