The loss of both my video editing clients in July 2024 was a significant setback. My wife and I were overwhelmed with worry, as we have a 4-year-old daughter to care for. We had to quickly find new clients or other income streams to keep up with our bills. The thought of not finding a client soon filled me with dread. I knew that borrowing money with interest would only worsen our situation, so I was determined to find another solution.
Job security is never guaranteed, and this is the most valuable thing I learned. Clients can leave at any time, so it’s important to always be prepared. To ensure my preparation would deliver the results I wanted, I learned how to use social media more effectively to attract and reach clients.
Here are the actions I’ve taken. First, I updated my resume and social media profiles. Second, I showcased some previous work done and clients’ testimonials. Then, I proactively reached out to potential clients. And finally, I applied for jobs on various platforms too. Thanks to these efforts, I managed to find two clients, which was a relief. More are coming. Although the income can be better, I’m confident that I’ll regain my previous income level really soon.
Life isn’t easy, and it gets tougher for those who aren’t ready. To thrive, we must learn to embrace change. Let us learn to transform challenges into opportunities.
