On Wednesday, prosecutors placed Yasuo Mori, a former Tokyo Olympics operations exec and three others under arrest. Mori, who was also a member of the Tokyo Olympics organizing committee allegedly was the main culprit in rigging bids for contracts in planning games test events. Including running both the pre-games events and competitions.
Allegedly, a total of around 40 billion yen (USD 303 million) was the amount contracted to run the pre-games and competitions at the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics in 2021. Koji Hemmi, a former executive at Dentsu Inc., and officials Yoshiji Kamata and Masahiko Fujino, from event production companies Cerespo Co. and Fuji Creative Corp., were the other three arrested.
