A long-standing conflict over a noisy pet dog in a Bangkok condominium escalated dramatically when a frustrated resident took matters into his own hands—by releasing two large snakes into a shared corridor of the building.
The man, who had reportedly filed numerous complaints with the condo’s management about his neighbor’s disruptive dog, decided on a bold and unsettling form of protest. The residential complex operates under a strict no-pets policy, but enforcement has been inconsistent, with some residents continuing to keep animals, including dogs and cats, causing ongoing disturbances.
In a video posted to Facebook, the snakes—seen slithering along the marble floors of the corridor and curling up near a resident’s door—sparked alarm among neighbors. The man is heard in the video declaring, “Today I brought two. Tomorrow I’ll bring more,” suggesting a continued campaign if his concerns remained unaddressed. He added that he was unable to bring a larger snake that day.
In a further act of defiance, the man posted a message in a residents’ group chat, inviting others to bring their pets out to interact with the snakes, sarcastically commenting, “My pets want to show their love by hugging your dogs so tightly they won’t be able to bark.” He went on to suggest turning the condo into a pseudo-zoo, saying, “Let’s turn this place into Safari World.”
Despite repeated grievances, the man claimed the building’s management failed to act effectively against the dog owner. Following the snake incident, however, the management issued a formal warning to the man and instructed him to immediately remove the snakes from the premises.
The dog owner was also penalized, receiving a fine of 10,000 baht (approximately USD 275) for violating building regulations and was ordered to relocate the dog. — The Star
