Former U.S. President Donald Trump has taken aim at pop icon Taylor Swift, suggesting he is the reason for what he perceives as her waning public appeal.
In a post shared on his social media platform Truth Social on Friday morning, Trump wrote, “Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?’” The post quickly gained traction, amassing over 25,000 likes and more than 4,100 reposts.
It remains unclear what prompted Trump’s renewed criticism of the 35-year-old Grammy-winning artist. Swift has maintained a relatively low profile since February, following the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles—a game that dashed hopes of a third consecutive win for the Chiefs and her partner, NFL star Travis Kelce.
Tensions between Trump and Swift have been simmering since September, when the singer publicly voiced support for former Vice President Kamala Harris’s Democratic presidential campaign. Days later, Trump lashed out with a bold declaration on Truth Social: “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” That post garnered over 59,000 likes and 125,000 “ReTruths.”
Trump’s latest comments about Swift also follow remarks he made in late April during the Eagles’ visit to the White House. Reflecting on the Super Bowl, he told Billboard: “It was an incredible game. I was there along with Taylor Swift—how did that work out? How did that one work out?”
Doubling down on his derision, Trump added that Swift endured a rough night at the Super Bowl: “She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving.”
While Swift has not responded publicly to Trump’s comments, the ongoing feud highlights the increasingly politicized intersection of celebrity culture and American politics.— The Star
