A Pervert Exposed: Japanese Man Caught Filming Over 1000 Women in Hot Springs

A Japanese man has been caught red-handed for his disturbing hobby of secretly filming women bathing in hot springs. The man, who has been identified as a 31-year-old resident of Fukushima prefecture, has admitted to filming over 1,000 women without their consent.

The incident came to light when a woman discovered a hidden camera disguised as a rock while bathing at a hot spring in Yamagata prefecture. The woman noticed something unusual about the rock and, upon closer inspection, found a tiny camera embedded within it.

The man’s elaborate scheme involved crafting fake rocks using clay and plastic, then concealing cameras inside them. He would then place these “rocks” in strategic locations at various hot springs, carefully disguising the camera cables and power source. To avoid suspicion, the man would often pose as a mountain climber, using camouflage nets to blend in with his surroundings.

The man’s actions have been condemned as a gross violation of privacy. The prosecutor has recommended a jail term of at least two years, citing the “planned, repeated, and fundamentally harmful” nature of his crimes. The verdict is expected to be announced on September 17.

This case highlights the growing problem of illegal recording using hidden cameras in Japan. Despite efforts to combat this issue, the number of reported cases continues to rise, with over 5,700 incidents reported in 2023 alone.
