In Japan, for every item you have at home, there’s probably a vending machine or two that sells it. This time, bear meat is being sold in a vending machine near Tazawako station in Semboku, Akita.
This particular vending machine is popular among bullet train passengers. Increasingly, there have been inquiries from people in the Kanto Region around Tokyo. Word of the bear meat vending machine is spreading and has gotten people curious enough to want an experience. Some people around Tokyo have even expressed to have it delivered via mail order.
Seen on the vending machine are pictures of lean and fatty meat, with a sign saying, “open 24 hours,” “black bear,” “bear meat” and “2,200 yen (about $17) for 250 grams.”
