Should you want to change your life, you should start today, not tomorrow, not January, and not even next year. That being said, the new year is indeed a good time to get yourself motivated to start improving your life so these are some things you would want to focus on and implement in your life, right now.
Short goals
- Active Journaling – So, every Sunday night or Monday morning, begin by making a list of what you want to accomplish that week. While you certainly have a long-term goal in mind, having a weekly goal in mind will help you achieve that long-term goal as well. It is also important to reward yourself if the goal is met.
- One physical activity a day – Did you know that sitting for too long can be fatal? So getting some physical activity outside, even if it’s just for 20 minutes of your day, whether it’s walking, going for a short run, or stretching, will make you 200% more productive.
- Save money on food and be healthier – Honestly, that is a broad topic with numerous approaches, but having a meal plan is the simplest thing you can do, and if you can do this weekly, you can save more money, eat home-cooked meals, and be much healthier.
- Pick a savings goal – Almost everyone has something they really want. Perhaps paying off debts or purchasing a home. Travelling around Malaysia is something I’ve been doing recently, and a few tips that can help you save and achieve those financial goals include writing down precisely what the goal is, when you want the goal to be completed, how much you need, and reverse engineering it to how much you need to save. Simple?
While it may appear simple, getting started is not the most difficult part. It is to keep doing it. At the end of the day, creating a new routine in life is more than just writing it down on a piece of paper; you must also make an extra effort to ensure that you do it consistently. This will help you develop discipline and, eventually, achieve your goals.
Best wishes!
