Recently at an event, the speaker of the day was asked about his passion. And what makes him pursue what he is doing now.

It got me thinking.

Back then, when I took over a business and helm it, it was clear that I wanted to make a living out of it – that business must be profitable. It was essential. I am convinced enough that I am passionate. I started and loved what I did. The business model was somewhat phenomenal. However, something was amiss.

Purpose, Passion and Profit

Over the years, I learned that successful entrepreneurs have something else within them. They are driven by more than just revenue or profit margin. It is when you went through a lot of challenges, many highs and lows. You will start to look and keep things in perspective. And you realise, time to re-evaluate the values and the “why you do what you do

Everything a business does must be in line with its core value and purpose. The key is to find the balance between preserving values and making progress. I believe that businesses with a purpose beyond profit tend to be more “visionary”. Using the purpose to guide business strategy has been proven to have a positive impact on organisational growth, and to a certain extent, your personal growth as an entrepreneur too.

Of course, these things take time – but with continued effort, growth, meaningful work, and excellent results, business becomes a lot clearer. Whether you venture into business because you’re passionate, because you see the potential of unlimited revenue (profit), or because you want to make an impactful purpose, it all goes in as one holistic approach.

Remember, It doesn’t matter if you’re a small-scale entrepreneur or one of the big ones, you can still make a difference. Building and leaving a legacy to be proud of and of course, profitable.

Let me add one more ‘P’.
